چکیده

With demand for the long-term continued use of existing building facilities, structural health monitoring and damage detection are attracting interest from society. Sensors various types have been practically applied in industry to satisfy this need. Among sensors, piezoelectric sensors an extremely promising technology by virtue their cost advantages durability. Although they used aerospace civil engineering, application engineering remains limited. Remarkably, recent catastrophic seismic events further reinforced necessity rapid quick judgment about safe facilities. Faced with these circumstances, study was conducted assess applicability detect components stemming concrete cracks local buckling. Specifically, emphasizes caused earthquakes. After first applying them cyclic loading tests composite beam component specimens steel frame subassemblies a folded roof plate, prospective positions were also found using finite element analysis. Crack propagation buckling locations predicted adequately. The provided output when slab showed tensile or plate experienced Furthermore, expansion progression detected multiple times during tests. Results that can components, demonstrating potential inexpensive stable systems.

Linear Classification of System Poles for Structural Damage Detection using Piezoelectric Active Sensors

The identification of damage in structural systems, including characterization of damage location and severity, is of extreme interest to the structural engineering profession. To date, many damage detection methods have been proposed that utilize global structural response measurements in the time and frequency domains to hypothesize the existence of structural damage. The accuracy and robustn...

Detection of Structural Cracks Using Piezoelectric Active Sensors

This study proposes a novel approach to identifying crack damage common to metallic structural elements under extreme cyclic loading. Using two piezoelectric pads surface mounted to a structural element, broadband signals can be used to locally excite the element using one pad and the corresponding system response measured with a second pad. An auto-regressive with exogenous input (ARX) system ...

Signal Processing Techniques for Damage Detection with Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors and Embedded Ultrasonic Structural Radar

Embedded ultrasonic structural radar (EUSR) algorithm is developed for using piezoelectric wafer active sensor (PWAS) array to detect defects within a large area of a thin-plate specimen. Signal processing techniques are used to extract the time of flight of the wave packages, and thereby to determine the location of the defects with the EUSR algorithm. In our research, the transient tone-burst...

Multi-mode Damage Detection Methods with Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors

PWAS are small and non-invasive transducers that can be easily affixed to a structure to interrogate it at will. Their wideband non-resonant properties make them advantageous candidates for multiple modes structural health monitoring (SHM) and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) simply by changing the driving frequencies. This paper presents research results obtained by using PWAS transducer for SH...

Corrosion Damage Detection with Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors

Since today’s aging fleet is now intended to far exceed their proposed design life, monitoring the structural integrity of those aircraft has become a priority issue for today’s Air Force. One of the most critical structural problems is corrosion. In fact the KC-135 now costs $1.2 billion a year to repair corrosion. In this paper, we plan to show the use of Lamb waves to detect material loss in...
